Porter & Luke’s opened in January 2013. That same year we were recognized by New Orleans food critic Tom Fitzmorris as one of the city’s top 10 new restaurants. Since then, we have been featured on an episode of Flip My Food with Chef Jeff, which airs on Fox. The episode featured our delicious red beans and rice with smoked ham shank. Tom Fitzmorris has also ranked us as one of the dozen best restaurants to get fried chicken. Every year, we participate in the National Fried Chicken Festival now in Woldenberg Park. We have worked endlessly over the years to put out a quality, consistent product with a focus on great service in a casual family-friendly environment. Ruby Slipper Cafe serves a New Orleans twist on Southern brunch favorites 7 days a week. We are a scratch-kitchen, using fresh ingredients from local purveyors whenever possible. Our coffee and espresso are locally-roasted fair trade selections. Our house specialties include mix-and-match Eggs Benedicts on our house-made biscuits, Bananas Foster pain perdu, and Bloody Mary’s made with our house-infused bacon vodka.
