Imperial Palace Restaurant, once called the Golden Dragon in the 1970s, is one of the first Chinese restaurant to open up in San Francisco Chinatown. Golden Dragon now known as the Imperial Palace Restaurant, has played a very important part of S.F’s history; as the dragon has awaken the dark side of the Chinese population in S.F and even shook the world.
The incident was called The Golden Dragon Massacre.
As you could still see bullet holes at the back of the building, caused by AK47s and hand guns. The massacre took away the lives of five innocents and injured 11 others. Two gangs clashed to fight for territory. This really put San Francisco on the map that very moment.
Who would know this little restaurant would have such a big impact not only for Chinatown but also for the Chinese Immigrants in America and all over the world.
Now after many years, the Golden Dragon had transformed into the Imperial Palace and is still serving its locals and tourists alike.
Serving traditional Dim Sum from 8am to 4pm and Fusion Chinese cuisine (Guang-dong Style) from 4pm-10:30pm Daily. The Imperial Palace is now serving you, welcome aboard!
